Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2009 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art including The Olga Davenport Collection, which included the work Palm Sunday, Amalfi Cathedral by Charles Ernest Cundall. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,625.00 (€ 1,752.32) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Ernest Cundall achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Cup Tie At Crystal Palace, Corinthians V Manchester City in December this year with an auction result of GBP 127,400.00 (€ 146,759.92).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2009 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art including The Olga Davenport Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Palm Sunday, Amalfi Cathedral von Charles Ernest Cundall zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.625,00 (€ 1.752,32) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Ernest Cundall erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Cup Tie At Crystal Palace, Corinthians V Manchester City im Dezember diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 127.400,00 (€ 146.759,92).
