Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2021 Christies in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Rising Smoke by Charles Ephraim Burchfield. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 38,761.41) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Ephraim Burchfield achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cherry Blossom Snow in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 1,812,500.00 (€ 1,553,127.68).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Rising Smoke von Charles Ephraim Burchfield zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 38.761,41) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Charles Ephraim Burchfield erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Cherry Blossom Snow im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.812.500,00 (€ 1.553.127,68).
