Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Study for the Head of a Sheep 10 x 11 in. (25.5 x 28.0 cm) framed 13 3/4 x 14 3/4 x 1 1/2 in. by Charles Émile Jacque was worth USD 4,845.00 (€ 4,456.40) to a buyer in March this year. This price was achieved in the auction European Art | Bonhams Skinner at Bonhams and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 900.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Émile Jacque achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Shepherdess with her Flock near a Stream in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 105,000.00 (€ 124,186.87).
