Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of Mrs. S. Dickinson, Standing Three-Quarter Length, In A White Dress, In A Landscape by Charles Edward Hallé was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,800.00 (€ 3,550.30). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Edward Hallé achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Luna in December 2011 with an auction result of GBP 46,850.00 (€ 56,109.49).
