Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Mothers with their children on the banks of Lago Maggiore; and Idle gossip on the edge of an Italian lake by Charles Rowbotham was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours including Original auction at Christies in London in July 2004. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,434.00 (€ 2,167.09), 20% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Charles Rowbotham have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Castelamare, Bay of Naples in November 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,110.00 (€ 9,986.55).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Mothers with their children on the banks of Lago Maggiore; and Idle gossip on the edge of an Italian lake von Charles Rowbotham wurde im Juli 2004 in der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours including Original bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.434,00 (€ 2.167,09) und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Charles Rowbotham auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Castelamare, Bay of Naples im November 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.110,00 (€ 9.986,55).
