Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Still life of pears, peaches, apples, plums, grapes, hazelnuts, and flowers on a bank by Charles Collins was auctioned at Christies in New York in June 2010, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,102.03). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Collins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ornamental Birds In A Landscape, A Set Of Three in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 89,150.00 (€ 137,894.86).
