Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2004 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Pictures, which included the work The crowded Channel off Dover by Charles Bentley. The price achieved of GBP 1,314.50 (€ 1,972.23) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Bentley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shipping At The Mouth Of A French Harbour, which sold at auction in December 2017 for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,345.43).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion Maritime Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit The crowded Channel off Dover von Charles Bentley zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.314,50 (€ 1.972,23) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Bentley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Shipping At The Mouth Of A French Harbour beobachtet, die im Dezember 2017 für GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.345,43) versteigert wurde.
