Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2014 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Masters, which included the work Figures On A Woodland Path by Charles Bentley. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,800.00 – 2,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,394.10) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Bentley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shipping At The Mouth Of A French Harbour, which sold at auction in December 2017 for GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,345.43).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2014 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Masters durch, in der auch die Arbeit Figures On A Woodland Path von Charles Bentley zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.800,00 – 2.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.394,10) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Charles Bentley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Shipping At The Mouth Of A French Harbour beobachtet, die im Dezember 2017 für GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.345,43) versteigert wurde.
