Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2006 a collector was able to acquire the work Shipping off a coast by Charles Bentley for EUR 840.00. This price was achieved in the auction Pictures, Watercolours and Drawings at Christies in Amsterdam and was even below the estimate range of EUR 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Charles Bentley have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Shipping At The Mouth Of A French Harbour in December 2017 with an auction result of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,345.43).
