Despite a disappointment, a good price for Charles Ansdell Williams
When the work The Child and Champion of Jacobinism... by Charles Ansdell Williams was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 239.00 (€ 176.54). Despite this disappointing result, The Child and Champion of Jacobinism... is the most expensive artwork by Charles Ansdell Williams that we have observed at auction so far.
