Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Chantal Joffe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in April last year. In the New Now auction, the work Megan and Mann sold for GBP 20,160.00 (€ 24,040.09) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Chantal Joffe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Mother and Child), which sold at auction in September last year for USD 90,720.00 (€ 92,732.29).
