In November 2020 Bonhams in London held the auction Modern British and Irish Art, which included the work The Rape of the Sabines by Ceri Richards. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 19,000.00 (€ 21,210.41), 27% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ceri Richards have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Interior in June 2017 with an auction result of GBP 175,000.00 (€ 199,292.35).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 27 % übertroffen
Im November 2020 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern British and Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Rape of the Sabines von Ceri Richards zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 19.000,00 (€ 21.210,41) und damit 27% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ceri Richards auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Interior im Juni 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 175.000,00 (€ 199.292,35).
