Catherine Eddy Beveridge, wife of Indiana Senator Albert J. Beveridge, was one of eighteen prominent female figures painted by Cecilia Beaux between 1910 and 1918. Mrs. Beveridge was a socialite and philanthropist, maintaining friendships with Theodore Roosevelt, the Marshall Field family, Henry James, Kaiser Wilhelm II, and Russian Emperor Nicholas II.

The work Mrs. Albert J. Beveridge (Catherine Eddy; Lady Primrose) by Cecilia Beaux was sold in the American Art Online auction at Christies in New York in November 2017. The result of USD 15,000.00 (€ 12,607.16) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cecilia Beaux have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of George C. Troutman in May 2005 with an auction result of USD 78,000.00 (€ 63,163.01).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Mrs. Albert J. Beveridge (Catherine Eddy; Lady Primrose) von Cecilia Beaux wurde im November 2017 in der Auktion American Art Online bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 12.607,16) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cecilia Beaux auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of George C. Troutman im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 78.000,00 (€ 63.163,01).
