Catherine Eddy Beveridge, wife of Indiana Senator Albert J. Beveridge, was one of eighteen prominent female figures painted by Cecilia Beaux between 1910 and 1918. Mrs. Beveridge was a socialite and philanthropist, maintaining friendships with Theodore Roosevelt, the Marshall Field family, Henry James, Kaiser Wilhelm II, and Russian Emperor Nicholas II.

The result of USD 15,000.00 (€ 12,607.16) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cecilia Beaux have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of George C. Troutman in May 2005 with an auction result of USD 78,000.00 (€ 63,163.01).
