Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Untitled #7 (Surfers) by Catherine Opie was worth USD 107,100.00 (€ 89,027.43) to a buyer in April 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Sothebys in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Catherine Opie - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Surfer for One Drop, which sold at auction in September 2018 for USD 264,000.00 (€ 227,155.39).

Die Arbeit Untitled #7 (Surfers) von Catherine Opie war einem Käufer im April 2021 USD 107.100,00 (€ 89.027,43) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Photographs bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Catherine Opie mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Surfer for One Drop beobachtet, die im September 2018 für USD 264.000,00 (€ 227.155,39) versteigert wurde.
