Auction result well in line with expectations
The work House #3 (Beverly Hills) by Catherine Opie was sold in the Contemporary Art| London auction at Sothebys in London in August 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,032.00 (€ 4,518.10) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Catherine Opie achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Surfer for One Drop in September 2018 with an auction result of USD 264,000.00 (€ 227,155.39).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit House #3 (Beverly Hills) von Catherine Opie wurde im August 2020 in der Auktion Contemporary Art| London bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.032,00 (€ 4.518,10) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Catherine Opie erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Surfer for One Drop im September 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 264.000,00 (€ 227.155,39).
