In December 2016 Christies in London held the auction A Surreal Legacy: Selected works of art from The Edward James Foundation, which included the work Death of a Knight; Celadine; Feathers; Fallen Angel; Study of a Rose; and Study of Violets by Carlyle Brown. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,607.60), 38% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Carlyle Brown have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Adam and Eve in December 2016 with an auction result of GBP 9,375.00 (€ 10,960.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 38 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion A Surreal Legacy: Selected works of art from The Edward James Foundation durch, in der auch die Arbeit Death of a Knight; Celadine; Feathers; Fallen Angel; Study of a Rose; and Study of Violets von Carlyle Brown zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.607,60) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Carlyle Brown auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Adam and Eve im Dezember 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.375,00 (€ 10.960,90).
