Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A glass bottle, a blue and white porcelain platter, a copper coffee pot, a flask, a covered jar, a tumbler of wine, a knife, bread, onions and an orange on a partially-draped table, with a ham and pans suspended from the wall by Carlo Magini was sold in the IMPORTANT OLD MASTER PICTURES auction at Christies in London in December 2005. The price achieved of GBP 96,000.00 (€ 139,338.63) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Other works by Carlo Magini have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in July 2005 the work Meat on a chopping-board, a mortar, a glass of water, an earthenware pitcher, a candlestick, a cauliflower in a tureen with oranges, onions, spring-onions and bread on a kitchen table; and Fried eggs in an earthenware bowl, a wine casket and a glass, was auctioned for GBP 153,600.00 (€ 222,795.35).
