Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of An Architect, Half-Length, In A Red Coat And White Stock, Holding A Pair Of Compasses, Standing Before A Column by Carlo Amalfi was sold in the Old Master Paintings and Portrait Miniatures auction at Sothebys in London in April 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,032.00 (€ 4,637.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carlo Amalfi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Portrait Of Two Elegantly Dressed Boys In An Interior Playing With A Dog, which sold at auction in December 2012 for GBP 15,000.00 (€ 18,499.17).
