Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A French Officer, Circa 1810 by Carl Gottlob Schmeidler was sold in the Old Master Paintings and Portrait Miniatures auction at Sothebys in London in April last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800 - 1,200, the actual price achieved of GBP 882 (€ 1,015) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Carl Gottlob Schmeidler achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Count Curt Goetzen, facing right in blue coat with gold-bordered green collar, gold epaulette and loops, wearing the badges of the Royal Prussian Order of the Iron Cross and of the Imperial Russian Order of St Ann, brown hair and moustache; and his w in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 8,813 (€
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Count Curt Goetzen, facing right in blue coat with gold-bordered green collar, gold epaulette and loops, wearing the badges of the Royal Prussian Order of the Iron Cross and of the Imperial Russian Order of St Ann, brown hair and moustache; and his w im November 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.812,50 (€ 14.023,46).
