In June 2009 Christies in London held the auction Centuries of Style: Silver, European Ceramics, Portrait Miniatures and Gold Boxes, which included the work A young lady, in white silk organza dress with orange trim about the shoulder and Empire waist, embroidered persimmon shawl, double-stranded pearl necklace, her chestnut hair plaited and upswept by Carl Gottlob Schmeidler. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,875 (€ 2,200), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Carl Gottlob Schmeidler have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Count Curt Goetzen, facing right in blue coat with gold-bordered green collar, gold epaulette and loops, wearing the badges of the Royal Prussian Order of the Iron Cross and of the Imperial Russian Order of St Ann, brown hair and moustache; and his w in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 8,813 (€ 1
