Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Danish in The Auction House by Carl Carlsen was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in February 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 17,500.00 (€ 14,331.34). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Carl Carlsen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work In The Auction House, which sold at auction in November 2015 for USD 60,000.00 (€ 56,807.42).
