This artwork by Cajetan Roos achieved an unexpectedly high price at Lempertz in Cologne in May 2019. In the Alte Kunst auction, the work Der Wasserfall von Narni sold for EUR 29,760.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Cajetan Roos; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The animals of Noah's Ark in a landscape with ruins and palm trees, the Ark atop a mountain beyond sold at auction in October 2015 with the realized price of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 48,956.26).
