Sold at the upper estimate price
In April 2016 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Paintings, which included the work Calligraphy In Xingshu by Cai Yuanpei. The auction ended at the price of HKD 100,000.00 (€ 11,266.50), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of HKD 80,000.00 – 100,000.00. Admittedly, works by Cai Yuanpei have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Seven-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script in November 2018 with an auction result of HKD 875,000.00 (€ 98,759.16).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im April 2016 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Calligraphy In Xingshu von Cai Yuanpei zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von HKD 100.000,00 (€ 11.266,50) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 80.000,00 – 100.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cai Yuanpei auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Seven-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 875.000,00 (€ 98.759,16).
