Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2020 Phillips in Hong Kong held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale in Association with Poly Auction, which included the work Two Wandering Tigers by Cai Guo-Qiang. It changed hands for a price of HKD 4,410,000.00 (€ 465,159.44) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of HKD 3,500,000.00 – 4,500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cai Guo-Qiang - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Project For Extraterrestrials No.10, Project To Extend The Great Wall Of China, which sold at auction in October 2007 for HKD 20,487,500.00 (€ 1,826,712.40).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Phillips in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale in Association with Poly Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two Wandering Tigers von Cai Guo-Qiang zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von HKD 4.410.000,00 (€ 465.159,44) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 3.500.000,00 – 4.500.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Cai Guo-Qiang mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Project For Extraterrestrials No.10, Project To Extend The Great Wall Of China beobachtet, die im Oktober 2007 für HKD 20.487.500,00 (€ 1.826.712,40) versteigert wurde.
