Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The New York pilot cutter Edward E. Barrett off the approaches to the harbour by Conrad Freitag was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 352.50 (€ 491.12). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Conrad Freitag achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The pilot boat Washington #22 with steamships and a clipper ship in the distance in January 2008 with an auction result of USD 25,000.00 (€ 16,845.23).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The New York pilot cutter Edward E. Barrett off the approaches to the harbour von Conrad Freitag im Mai 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 352,50 (€ 491,12) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Conrad Freitag erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The pilot boat Washington #22 with steamships and a clipper ship in the distance im Januar 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 25.000,00 (€ 16.845,23).
