Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When this work without title by Brion Gysin was auctioned at Sothebys in Amsterdam in May 2011, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - EUR 1,200.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at EUR 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Brion Gysin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Dreamachine in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 32,760.00 (€ 28,127.41).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit ohne Titel von Brion Gysin im Mai 2011 bei Sothebys in Amsterdam versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – EUR 1.200,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit EUR 5.000,00 mehr als viermal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Brion Gysin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Dreamachine im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 32.760,00 (€ 28.127,41).
