Auction result well in line with expectations
In March this year Christies in New York held the auction First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online, which included the work Self Portrait III by Billy Childish. The price achieved of GBP 10,080.00 (€ 11,467.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Billy Childish achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work toward a shore in March last year with an auction result of GBP 163,800.00 (€ 194,203.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Self Portrait III von Billy Childish zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 10.080,00 (€ 11.467,95) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Billy Childish erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit toward a shore im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 163.800,00 (€ 194.203,34).
