Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy, which included the work Couplet In Running Script by Bi Yuan. It changed hands for a price of USD 6,875.00 (€ 4,990.20) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Bi Yuan have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Calligraphy in Running Script in November 2019 with an auction result of HKD 375,000.00 (€ 43,493.06).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2014 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Fine Classical Chinese Paintings & Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Couplet In Running Script von Bi Yuan zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 6.875,00 (€ 4.990,20) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bi Yuan auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Calligraphy in Running Script im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 375.000,00 (€ 43.493,06).
