It achieved a price of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 4,082.81), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 63%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bernardo Hay - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fishermen off Capri, which sold at auction in October 2000 for GBP 6,462.50 (€ 11,046.26).

Die Arbeit The house of Lord Byron, Venice von Bernardo Hay kam im März 2008 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 3.250,00 (€ 4.082,81) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 63%. Für andere Arbeiten von Bernardo Hay mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Fishermen off Capri beobachtet, die im Oktober 2000 für GBP 6.462,50 (€ 11.046,26) versteigert wurde.
