In March 2021 Christies in New York held the auction South Asian Modern + Contemporary Art Including Works by Benodebehari Mukherjee from the Mrinalini Mukherjee Foundation, which included the work Frying Fish by Benode Behari Mukherjee. The »bidding war« ended at USD 70,000.00 (€ 59,609.98), 40% above the upper estimate. With this result, Frying Fish is even the most expensive work of art by Benode Behari Mukherjee that we have observed at auctions so far.
