The work Chicago Piece by Basil Beattie was worth GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,266.41) to a buyer in July 2010. This price was achieved in the auction 20th Century British Art at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Basil Beattie; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Bound Up sold at auction in September 2017 with the realized price of GBP 10,625.00 (€ 12,054.20).
