Inscribed and signed, with one seal of the artist
Cordelia Hung (1935-1984), born in Hong Kong, began to paint in the 1960s, and took lessons under Bao Shaoyou. She acquired numerous works from the artist, and these works remained with her family for over 50 years. Four additional works from the same collection is available in Christie’s Fine Chinese Modern Paintings sale on 27 November 2018. (Lots 1512-1515)

Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Bao Shaoyou achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2018. In the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online auction, the work Egret in Willow Pond sold for HKD 32,500.00 (€ 3,668.20) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Bao Shaoyou have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Peacock By Spring Blossoms in October 2015 with an auction result of HKD 187,500.00 (€ 21,905.00).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Bao Shaoyou erzielte im November 2018 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online wurde die Arbeit Egret in Willow Pond für HKD 32.500,00 (€ 3.668,20) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bao Shaoyou auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Peacock By Spring Blossoms im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 187.500,00 (€ 21.905,00).
