Auction result misses estimated price range
When this work without title by Bal Chhabda was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,800.00 (€ 6,148.03). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bal Chhabda achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work South Indian Landscape in September this year with an auction result of USD 157,500.00 (€ 148,809.52).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Bal Chhabda im September 2006 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.800,00 (€ 6.148,03) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bal Chhabda erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit South Indian Landscape im September diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 157.500,00 (€ 148.809,52).
