In December 2020 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy, which included the work Barren Tree and Birds by Bada Shanren. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 10,090,000.00 (€ 1,064,276.37), 44% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Bada Shanren have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Album Of Natore in May 2016 with an auction result of HKD 76,910,000.00 (€ 8,889,373.15).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 44 % übertroffen
Im Dezember 2020 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy durch, in der auch die Arbeit Barren Tree and Birds von Bada Shanren zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 10.090.000,00 (€ 1.064.276,37) und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bada Shanren auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Album Of Natore im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 76.910.000,00 (€ 8.889.373,15).
