24. Apr - 24. Apr 2013
Estimate: 8.000 - 12.000 GBP
Price realised: 16.250 GBP
Augustin (Agostino) Brunias (1728-1796)
Free women of Dominica bathing in a stream
oil on canvas
12¼ x 10in. (31 x 25.4cm.)

Upper estimate price exceeded by 35 %.

In April 2013 Christies in London held the auction Travel, Science and Natural History, which included the work Free Women Of Dominica Bathing In A Stream by Augustin Brunias. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 16,250.00 (€ 19,175.94), 35% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Augustin Brunias achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Free Women Of Dominica Bathing In A Stream; Free Women Of Dominica; A Young Couple And Child Promenading, Dominica; Flower Girls Of Dominica; Free Women Of Dominica With Child; And A Native Family Of St. Vincent in June last year with an auction result of USD 214,200.00 (€ 204,604.07).

Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Free Women Of Dominica Bathing In A Stream; Free Women Of Dominica; A Young Couple And Child Promenading, Dominica; Flower Girls Of Dominica; Free Women Of Dominica With Child; And A Native Family Of St. Vincent im Juni letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 214.200,00 (€ 204.604,07).
