In April 2013 Christies in London held the auction Travel, Science and Natural History, which included the work A Negroes Dance In The Island Of Dominica; The Barbadoes Mulatto Girl by Augustin Brunias. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,360.12), 33% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Augustin Brunias achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Free Women Of Dominica Bathing In A Stream; Free Women Of Dominica; A Young Couple And Child Promenading, Dominica; Flower Girls Of Dominica; Free Women Of Dominica With Child; And A Native Family Of St. Vincent in June last year with an auction result of USD 214,200.00 (€ 204,604.07).
