A top price for Auguste Raynaud
In November 2010 Sothebys in London held the auction 19th Century European Paintings Including Spanish Painting, The Orientalist Sale, and German, Austrian, Scandinavian and Symbolist Works, which included the work French la Nuit by Auguste Raynaud. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 20,000.00 (€ 23,899.97), 33% above the upper estimate. With this result, French la Nuit is even the most expensive work of art by Auguste Raynaud that we have observed at auctions so far.
