Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2021 Sothebys in New York held the auction Master Paintings and Drawings, which included the work A parrot eating from a bowl of grapes, plums, peaches and strawberries with a river landscape beyond by Augusta Innes Withers. The price achieved of USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,291.92) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Augusta Innes Withers - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Orchidaceae: Cattleya Mossiae, which sold at auction in June 2005 for GBP 7,200.00 (€ 10,670.85).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2021 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Master Paintings and Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A parrot eating from a bowl of grapes, plums, peaches and strawberries with a river landscape beyond von Augusta Innes Withers zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.291,92) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Augusta Innes Withers mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Orchidaceae: Cattleya Mossiae beobachtet, die im Juni 2005 für GBP 7.200,00 (€ 10.670,85) versteigert wurde.
