Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A herd of elephants; and A tiger hunt on elephant back, Corral by August Specht was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 940.00 (€ 1,517.70). Other works by August Specht have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in December 2004 by the work Front cover design and illustrations for Nature's Pageant, The Story of the Seasons (one illustrated) at GBP 1,135.25 (€ 1,606.69).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A herd of elephants; and A tiger hunt on elephant back, Corral von August Specht im September 2001 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 940,00 (€ 1.517,70) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von August Specht wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Dezember 2004 die Arbeit Front cover design and illustrations for Nature's Pageant, The Story of the Seasons (one illustrated) mit GBP 1.135,25 (€ 1.606,69).
