Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Dead Monkey by Ashim Purkayastha was sold in the South Asian Modern and Contemporary Art auction at Christies in New York in March 2012. The price achieved of USD 3,750.00 (€ 2,812.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ashim Purkayastha achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work He Is Not My Enemy in September 2008 with an auction result of USD 134,500.00 (€ 95,518.78).

Die Arbeit Dead Monkey von Ashim Purkayastha wurde im März 2012 in der Auktion South Asian Modern and Contemporary Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 3.750,00 (€ 2.812,36) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ashim Purkayastha erzielen.
