This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur William Devis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of the children of Benjamin Goldsmid, with a pony and a dog in a landscape in May last year with an auction result of GBP 201,600.00 (€ 237,163.21).
