Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Arthur William Devis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in December 2021. In the Town & Country: A Private Collection auction, the work Portrait of Emily Shakespear, full-length, sitting on a bench under a tree by the Hooghly river in India, holding a book sold for GBP 16,380.00 (€ 19,537.90) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur William Devis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of the children of Benjamin Goldsmid, with a pony and a dog in a landscape in May last year with an auction result of GBP 201,600.00 (€ 237,163.21).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Arthur William Devis erzielte im Dezember 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Town & Country: A Private Collection wurde die Arbeit Portrait of Emily Shakespear, full-length, sitting on a bench under a tree by the Hooghly river in India, holding a book für GBP 16.380,00 (€ 19.537,90) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 8.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Arthur William Devis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of the children of Benjamin Goldsmid, with a pony and a dog in a landscape im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 201.600,00 (€ 237.163,21).
