Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Arthur José de Souza Loureiro could be acquired at Sothebys in Melbourne in August 2007 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works auction, the work Australian At The Edge Of The Beech Forest, Fontainebleau changed hands for AUD 21,600.00 (€ 12,916.30) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of AUD 28,000.00 – 40,000.00. Other works by Arthur José de Souza Loureiro have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in October 2011 by the work Study of the artist's wife and son at GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,913.01).
