Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art, which included the work British well Done! by Arthur John Elsley. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 430,000.00 (€ 391,122.43) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arthur John Elsley - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Golden Hours, which sold at auction in October 2000 for USD 831,000.00 (€ 979,259.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit British well Done! von Arthur John Elsley zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 430.000,00 (€ 391.122,43) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Arthur John Elsley mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Golden Hours beobachtet, die im Oktober 2000 für USD 831.000,00 (€ 979.259,96) versteigert wurde.
