In February 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art, which included the work British friend Or Foe? by Arthur John Elsley. The result of USD 40,000.00 (€ 32,757.35) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur John Elsley achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Golden Hours in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 831,000.00 (€ 979,259.96).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Februar 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Fine Old Master & 19th Century European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit British friend Or Foe? von Arthur John Elsley zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 32.757,35) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Arthur John Elsley erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Golden Hours im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 831.000,00 (€ 979.259,96).
