In September 2010 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel including the Polar Sale, which included the work Sunset by Apsley George Benet Cherry-Garrard. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,250.00 (€ 1,445.76), 25% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Apsley George Benet Cherry-Garrard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cherry-Garrard's silk sledging flag, sewn and embroidered by his sister, Ida Cherry-Garrard, and carried on Scott's British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13 in September 2008 with an auction result of GBP 37,250.00 (€ 47,098.86).
