Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Scipio Africanus And His Army Attacking Carthage by Antonio Tempesta was sold in the Old Master & British Works on Paper auction at Sothebys in London in July 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,066.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Antonio Tempesta have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work La Réconciliation De Jacob Et Esaü in November 2019 with an auction result of EUR 85,800.00.

Die Arbeit Scipio Africanus And His Army Attacking Carthage von Antonio Tempesta wurde im Juli 2017 in der Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.066,25) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Antonio Tempesta auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit La Réconciliation De Jacob Et Esaü im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 85.800,00.
