This artwork by Antonio Stom achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2012. In the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction, the work A Capriccio Harbour View With Figures Conversing And Ships At Anchor sold for GBP 51,650.00 (€ 65,788.22) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Antonio Stom - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Molo, Venice, looking west with the reception of the Papal Nuncio Carlo Gaetano Stampa (1667–1742), later Cardinal-Archbishop of Milan, at the Doge's Palace on 15 July 1721, which sold at auction in December last year for GBP 138,600.00 (€ 156,465.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
