When the work Sketch of Diana Vreeland, Paloma Picasso and André Leon Talley by Antonio López García was auctioned at Christies in New York in February this year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 2,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than 12 times as high at USD 25,200.00 (€ 23,769.10). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Antonio López García achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mujer durmiendo (El Sueño) in October 2005 with an auction result of EUR 684,000.00.
Kunstwerk zum Zwölffachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Sketch of Diana Vreeland, Paloma Picasso and André Leon Talley von Antonio López García im Februar diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 2.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 25.200,00 (€ 23.769,10) mehr als zwölfmal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Antonio López García erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Mujer durmiendo (El Sueño) im Oktober 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 684.000,00.
