Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Market on the Molo; and The Market at Dolo (Two Works) (Bomberg 20, 26) by Giovanni Antonio Canal was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2021. The price achieved of GBP 2,520.00 (€ 3,005.83) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Giovanni Antonio Canal achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Bucintoro At The Molo, Venice, On Ascension Day in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 11,432,000.00 (€ 16,582,008.08).
